LOUD SOUND TRUCKS IN BROOKLYN DURING ELECTION SEASON

Does anybody remember the loud sound trucks (with external speakers) which would come around in residential neighborhoods, (often at night) during the election season? Those trucks would disturb the peace and tranquility of residential areas, urging residents to vote for a particular candidate. I'm not sure if they were even legal at the time, as there are certain ordinances in the Administrative Code relating to decibel levels and loud noise. However, those individuals who were electioneering could have cared less about the noise which they were creating. I've never seen those trucks used out of town. In the area that I live in, there are yard signs which state "Vote for so and so", but there are no loud sound trucks!
