You say that as if O'Malley with an e was a regular guy one step from the poor house or he was like millions of middle-class Brooklynites he screwed and not the multi-millionaire owner of a major league baseball team instead of a greedy piece of shi- who wanted more than the millions he already had. By the way, he got to be the owner by screwing over his partners like the great Branch Rickey. You didn't hear much about Moses at the time. It wasn't until revisionist history started being written by him and his family who wanted to get him into the baseball Hall of Fame who helped fund the so-called documentary by hiring some hack to make a HBO film called Ghosts of Flatbush that blamed Robert Moses. There were plenty of options available in Brooklyn. Wrigley Field and Fenway Park are even older than Ebbets Field was. Atlantic Ave, Coney Island, various other spots along Fourth Avenue and as a last resort there was Flushing Meadows, you know where the Mets play. Yes, it wouldn't be the same, but it's still the METSropolitan area. But it was only O'Malley's GREED that caused him to abandon Brooklyn for more money and it is debatable that he did wind up getting more. When you own a baseball team, it's not exactly like any old business. At least not then. You have a duty to the fans and public to hold it in trust for them. ROT IN HELL O'MALLEY!
