My son still lives in Brooklyn and we went to my grandson's first basketball game Sunday past. I lived in Brooklyn from birth to age 26 - East 32nd and Kings Highway, East 35th and Beverly. Then Cape Elizabeth and Falmouth Maine, Ridgewood NJ and Fairfield CT.

My older son lives in Marine Park and this past Sunday we went to our grandson's first basketball game at James Madison HS. I had never been inside and was surprised by how beautiful that school is. The surrounding homes were impressive - large, well cared for and apparently very, very expensive.

I remembered that my landlord on East 35th had a large pigeon coop on the roof and he raced them. An old Brooklyn tradition.

We had lunch at a local pub - Nora's Park Bench on Quentin Rd - across the street from the Marine Park funeral parlor where too many of my family and friends left us.
