I could think of five more Queens high schools that were active from 1940 to 1949 (as well as before and after that period): RICHMOND HILL HS, JOHN ADAMS HS, FAR ROCKAWAY HS, GROVER CLEVELAND HS and FRANKLIN K. LANE HS. When I lived in Flushing from 1955 to 1965, the new JOHN BOWNE HS was built during that time. Later, during the 1990s, the new TOWNSEND HARRIS HS was added to the roster of Queens high schools when it was built on the southwest corner of the Queens College campus, directly across the street from where I lived!
